Overhead travelling crane - Gantry crane

A device for lifting and transferring very heavy loads (can be stationary or rail-mounted). Overhead cranes are typically installed in industrial buildings or yards. They allow loads to be handled anywhere in the building. They are mounted vertically and move on rails secured to steel runway beams.

The main axes of movement are called:

• translation: travel track axis (greater distances) corresponding to the movement of the entire deck;
• direction: transverse axis; generated by movement of the carriage ;
• lifting: vertical axis; the lifting or lowering of the load due to the movement of the crane and therefore of the cables.
